The Murri School is an independent community school serving Aboriginal and Islander students, situated at 1277 Beaudesert Rd, Acacia Ridge QLD 41101. Since its establishment in 1986, the school has remained committed to providing a culturally-sensitive and supportive learning environment for its indigenous students. The school’s emphasis on cultural and linguistic preservation is evident in its curriculum and the various creative approaches used to foster student success.
A testament to its dedication to community service, the school houses a dental van on its premises, which provides dental care services to students. With an enrollment of about 208 students, ranging from Prep to Year 12, The Murri School is one of Australia’s few Indigenous-owned and controlled institutions, offering a unique educational experience that prioritizes the celebration of Aboriginal and Islander culture.
Acacia Ridge State School
Having a history spanning over 150 years, Acacia Ridge State School has undergone a remarkable journey, having three distinct campuses before settling into its current location, which was formerly occupied by Acacia Ridge State High School. As the 25th school established in Queensland, Acacia Ridge SS reflects the region’s early European history and its recent growth as a hub for immigrant families. The school boasts a multicultural student body that represents over 44 nationalities.
